As a lot of special OPEL tool will be required, it is recommended to perform this work in a specialized workshop. The cam-shaft can be removed both on established, and on the removed head of cylinders. Here the description of removal on previously dismantled head of cylinders is provided. It is possible to make removal and on the established head, however it is necessary to do preparatory work up to unscrewing of a head of cylinders according to subsection 3.6.2.
Removal
PERFORMANCE ORDER |
1. If necessary measure a cam-shaft: the required value for a radial side play makes 0,04–0,078 mm. |
2. Remove a head of cylinders. |
|
3. Removal of a cam-shaft requires press OPEL adaptation. It serves for keeping of bearings of a cam-shaft in adjusting situation when inserts of bearings are weakened. |
4. Install adaptation and screw its bolts covers of a head of cylinders. |
5. Rotation of an excentric shaft of adaptation pull covers of bearings. |
6. Weaken all bolts of covers of bearings. |
7. Uncover bearings and a cam-shaft. Covers of bearings are designated by figures with 1 on 7 from release. |
8. If it is required to remove, for example, if necessary valves, remove pushers. |
|
9. For taking out in the workshops OPEL the sucker (it is specified by an arrow), which is established on a pusher from above is used. |
10. Pushers have to be established on former places. |
Prevention
Do not overturn pushers of valves more than for 10 minutes, otherwise oil will flow out and hydraulic compensators of gaps will not work any more.

Prevention
If the cam-shaft was removed, it is necessary to consider the following: hydraulic pushers of valves without loading extend and after installation some time that they contracted again is required. Thereof valves can open more, than corresponds to the provision of a cam-shaft and to hit against pistons. It is necessary to maintain the following pauses between installation of a cam-shaft and head of cylinders: at +20 °C (room temperature) – 4 minutes; at +10 °C – 11 minutes. After installation of a head of cylinders wait 30 more minutes before it is possible to turn the crankshaft.
|
1. If the cam-shaft was removed on the established head of cylinders, tighten the crankshaft on 30 ° in the direction of rotation (for a hexagon of a belt pulley) for VMT. At the expense of it any piston will not be in the top situation, and valves will not be able to encounter them. |
2. Enclose a cam-shaft and sustain the required pause. |
3. Only after that return the crankshaft to the provision of VMT of the piston of the 1st cylinder and establish a driving chain. |
4. Check pushers of valves for wear, if necessary replace. |
5. Establish old pushers on former places. |
6. Grease bearings of a cam-shaft and insert a shaft so that cams of inlet and final valves of the 1st cylinder evenly were turned up. |
7. Establish covers of bearings according to the put markings, they have to be established on former places. |
8. Install press adaptation and pull covers. |
9. Tighten covers of bearings of a cam-shaft with 15 N.' effort of m. |
10. Weaken adaptation and unscrew it. |
11. Establish a head of cylinders. |
